When someone calls your fans, they could hear your song instead of the normal ring. A caller tune is one of the simplest ways to make a song stick in people's minds — and it can be done for your own song when you release it through a distributor.
How caller tunes work
Telecom networks keep a library of short song clips. When your song is released, a 30-second part of it is sent to the networks as a caller tune. Your fans can then pick it and set it on their number, just like any film song.
Step by step with VPSongs
- 1Create a releaseUpload your song's WAV audio, cover art and song details as usual.
- 2Choose the caller tune partPick the 30-second part you want people to hear — usually the hook or the most catchy line.
- 3Give it a short nameWrite a short, clear name for the caller tune so fans can find it easily.
- 4We deliver itYour song goes to Spotify, JioSaavn, Apple Music and 150+ stores, and the caller tune goes to Jio and other networks along with it.
- 5Tell your fansOnce it is live, share it on WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube and ask fans to set it as their caller tune.
Tips for a great caller tune
- Start the 30 seconds on a strong line — the first 3 seconds decide if people keep it.
- Avoid long silences or slow music intros inside the 30 seconds.
- Keep the name short and the same as your song's title, so fans recognise it.
- Devotional songs, love songs and festival songs are popular as caller tunes — plan your release around festivals.
